Mumme is a powerful, dark and malted beer style from the late Middle Ages. Maybe it was the beer that the brewer spoiled himself with? In our version, we have added a touch of Nordic berries, which we imagine Schiøtz would have done. In addition to the Nordic flavourings, several malts and four hops are included in a Dark Mumme.

- Appearance

Deep dark copper colour and clear (filtered).

- Mouthfeel

Full body, facilitated by a light carrier acidity. Medium carbonation.

- Scent

Dominant fruity malt character with caramel and dried fruit notes, complemented by 'real' berry scent and a light complex spice note (juniper and blackthorn) and almost noticeable hop flavour.

- Taste

Solid malty flavour with some sweetness, light berry flavour (black currant and blackthorn) balanced by a light hop bitterness. Light notes of dark chocolate, coffee and liquorice that help balance the sweetness. Quite long, fruity aftertaste with some bitterness from the hops.

The Schiøtz series is a tribute to Theodor Schiøtz, who founded the Albani brewery in Odense in 1959.In addition to being a wonderfully skilled brewer, Schiøtz was also an internationally recognized botanist - which is why the Schiøtz series is brewed with a touch of botany and Nordic flavours, providing a more complex and exciting taste experience. As a brewer, Schiøtz was legendary and highly respected for his skill and his unique beer.Despite Albani becoming one of the country's largest breweries, Schiøtz participated in the daily work in the brewing hall as long as his powers lasted - and they lasted for a long time. Schiøtz was a strong, but also very caring and committed, person. He was against a hierarchy that meant keeping a distance away from his employees - he wanted to work close to them and the beer. The fellowship around good beer has been an important element in the history of the brewery. And that has been the special thing that made Albani one of the most important breweries of the time. With interesting recipes and skillfully dedicated brewing work as the focal point. That is why it has been both obvious and respectful for us to follow in Schiøtz's great footsteps. The aim is to create, in all humility, some Danish beers based on the unique things that Schiøtz brought into the art of Danish brewing.
