The beer has been brewed since the brewery's 140th anniversary in 1999. The pilsner is characterized by a darker color and a stronger taste of malt and hops than a regular pilsner. You immediately feel the rich and powerful malt flavor when you taste an Odense Classic.

Albanibryggeriet was founded by Theodor Schiøtz in 1859, and was one of the city's first industrial enterprises. The brewery was located, where it still is, centrally in Odense.H.C. Andersen was happy for Albani. In a letter from one of his many stays in his hometown, he wrote about the brewery's product: "I cannot praise this beer highly enough. It is refreshing, delicate and strong. Try it!" Many did, and they still do. From being a local Odense enterprise, Albani Bryggerierne has long since become the entire beer of Funen and Albani has become Funen's favorite beer brand. Today, you find friends of Albani in all parts of Denmark, where you can get the Funen brew.
