Christmas Brew DANISH CHRISTMAS BREW

Launched back in 2003, the year Nørrebro Bryghus opened, this unique Christmas brew was developed by brewmaster Anders Kissmeyer, who took advantage of the brewing freedom that Danish Christmas brew is not a fixed style, but simply a tradition tied to the season. It became a dark and full-bodied ale, flavored with fresh ginger and cloves and adorned with a touch of American aroma hops.

MALTS / Pilsner malt, Wheat malt, Rye malt, Carafa malt, Cara hell malt

HOPS / Cascade, Ginger, Juice, and Cloves

APPEARANCE / Mahogany brown, unfiltered with light cream-colored foam

AROMA / Distinct Christmas aroma carried by cloves and ginger on a background of caramelized malts.

TASTE AND MOUTHFEEL / Full-bodied and complex, intense, slightly sour and sweet taste, dominated by the caramel of the malt and dried fruit as well as the added ginger and cloves. Spicy aftertaste with a light bitter finish.

FOOD MATCH / Nørrebro’s Christmas brew is created as a companion to Danish Christmas food. Both duck and pork roast as well as the warm temptations and cheese on the Christmas table.

OVERALL / A dark full-bodied Christmas ale carried by a pleasant sweetness with a light spicy and bitter finish, making it perfect for Christmas food.
